About the Project
Core Works
- Masonry crack stitching
- Corner crack tying
- Masonry restraint installation
- Localised concrete repairs
Project Overview
Clan Contracting is currently delivering internal structural repair works within the Surface Science Research Centre at the University of Liverpool. The works address defects identified during inspection, where the walls showed clear signs of historic movement and cracking.
The condition of the internal masonry required targeted structural intervention to stabilise affected areas, reinstate restraint, and address localised concrete defects, while maintaining the functionality of the research facility.
Scope of Structural Works
The scope focuses on stabilisation and repair of existing structural elements, using proven masonry and concrete repair techniques.
Works include:
- Installation of crack ties and corner crack ties to stitch cracks and reinstate lateral restraint
- Installation of bat straps to reconnect separated masonry sections
- Localised concrete repairs to address spalling and defects identified during the survey
All works are being carried out internally with controlled sequencing and careful detailing.
